An efficient and effective CCTV control room is a significant contributing factor to a successful business; the underlying areas of concern are not purely of a technical nature.  Success comes from ensuring that the staff has the necessary personality and skills to perform the tasks required so they are able to apply these skills to anticipate and respond to situations.

Assessing the skills of operators in security and control room operations is a critical practice that ensures competency, enhances safety and security, maintains operational efficiency, and ensures compliance with regulations.

An interview may expose desirable qualities, but it cannot be utilized to confirm the current status of abilities of a prospective candidate. As such different tools must be utilized. The output from these tools is then utilized in order to make what can be deemed to be an informed decision of the suitability of an applicant.

CCTV SURVEILLANCE OPERATOR COMPETENCY PROFILING

Specific surveillance CCTV operator tests administered to assess competency and skills of potential Control Room operators. It is to be noted that the requirements for a CCTV operator are unique therefore selective profiling techniques are applied.

PSYCHOMETRIC AND INTEGRITY PROFILING

These are tests that are designed to measure the candidates’ suitability for a position based on their mental capabilities and behavioral style as evidenced in their response to a series of questions. The candidate’s response (or lack of) is measured against the personality characteristics and cognitive abilities identified as required for the job role.

BACKGROUND VETTING

An inspection and confirmation of the historical activities of an individual. This may include performing different verifications e.g. employment, education, criminal record.

POLYGRAPHS

Commonly known as a “Lie Detector Test”. The polygraph test records and measures the physiological changes that occur when a person is asked a series of questions. The response is utilized to determine the truthfulness of the response.
